Progress Reportage

I’ve mentioned before the difficulty of posting a thing-a-day when those individual things are merely completed tasks in a larger body. Does it compromise the thing-a-day project if each day’s result is not a discrete, completed “thing?” I’m not certain that was ever the goal, but I did sign a contract, and I don’t want to make the lines fuzzy unnecessarily, even if the point of all this is to make my own life better. Regardless, being able to effectively pursue a complex, long-term project (which is the form most daily things have been taking for the past couple months) has reinvigorated my practice and made any additional thing-making I do more pleasant, since the one-off projects serve as a sort of mental palate-cleanser. This is the rare occasion where I feel I can post progress on something that doesn’t easily show identifiable progress: rest assured, though, that none of what you see is what you should be seeing.

Edit: I just realized that my year of making a thing a day was over on Sept. 9th and that I therefore don’t owe you the above explanation. Experience report coming soon.
